Microneedling
Microneedling is a very popular skin rejuvenating treatment that is becoming increasingly more opted for by all ages, including many A lister celebrities. It is also known to be called skin needling, collagen induction therapy (CIT) or Percutaneous collagen induction (PCI). Microneedling is a less evasive treatment that can be used to treat and improve many skin conditions.
How it works
The micro-needling procedure is performed with a hand held device that has a cluster of very fine needles.
The pen is circulated over the skin in a specific motion whilst doing an automatic stamping action. This is called a ‘controlled injury’’ to the skin. This procedure will stimulate the collagen formation process & activate fibroblasts in the skin. The skin then begins the healing process & will start to recover & repair producing collagen.
A skin cycle is the process of where new skin cells are formed at the deepest layer of the epidermis and then works its way up to the surface of the skin. This is typically around 5-6 weeks depending on age.
What is Microneedling used for?
Microneedling can treat many different skin conditions such as:
Acne scarring
Fine lines
Wrinkles
Loose skin
Skin texture
Enlarged pores
Brown/Age spots
Stretch marks
Pigmentation
Stretch marks.
How often to have Microneedling?
We recommend a course of 4-6 microneedling sessions having one every 4 weeks. Results are always best after completing a course.
You can have micro-needling session as a one off treatment also. This will give your skin a great boost and you will be left with a brighter, tighter, smoother and more youthful glowing complexion.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The skin is cleansed, sterilised and then a serum to suit the client such as Vitamin C, Amino Acids’s, Anti pigment, Tightening or hyaluronic acid is applied all over the skin & micro-needled in. These serums are very beneficial & nourishing.
The procedure is fairly painless and feels like a scratching sensation. Numbing cream can be applied.
Immediately after the treatment you will be red & this can last from 24-36 hours. This can feel and look look like sun-burn so some downtime is required and this needs to be taken into consideration if you have any events or plans.
AFTERCARE
No make up or products (24 hours)
No sauna or steam (24 hours)
No swimming or exercise (24 hours)
No direct sun exposure (for two weeks)
No harsh day to day products (two weeks)
High SPF should be worn daily.
You can use a cooling gel that is natural like organic Aloe Vera gel to soothe the redness.
After a course of 4-6 micro-needling sessions you’re left with a brighter, smoother and more youthful complexion. The skin is rejuvenated & resurfaced.
